In a nutshell: This paper reviewed studies which examined the effects of computer-based interventions in comparison with no or little intervention as well as in-person interventions to support weight loss and weight maintenance. The review found that when compared to little or no intervention, computer-based interventions were more effective in supporting weight loss and weight maintenance. However, when compared with face-to-face interventions, the computer-based approach resulted in lower levels of weight loss and maintenance, but the difference were small and therefore may be of limited clinical significance.
