In a nutshell: NHS Tameside and Glossop have introduced MEND (Mind Exercise Nutrition….. Do it!) programme. MEND covers 10 weeks giving practical lessons on eating and exercise habits aim to improve children’s fitness, physical activity levels, nutrition and self-esteem. The scheme has been introduced following a survey revealing that at one school, 63% of lunch boxes contained no fruit, salad or vegetables, while 74% of the lunchboxes surveyed contained more than one chocolate bar.
