In a nutshell: This article provides a synopsis of a recently published review of RCTs and evidence-based reviews relating to the effects of consuming nutritively sweetened beverages (NSBs) upon changes in body weight and adiposity.  This review found that currently there is not enough evidence to demonstrate conclusively that NSB consumption has uniquely contributed to obesity or that reducing NSB consumption will reduce BMI levels.
